How much does a flat roof cost on the Sunshine Coast?
A 2-ply torch-on roof costs $10 to $20 per square foot installed in 2026, so a 1,500 sq ft flat roof runs $15,000 to $30,000. Why Sunshine Coast flat roofs fail
The Coast gets more rain than Vancouver and holds it longer. A 2-ply torch-on system handles all of it: a reinforced base sheet and cap sheet heat-welded into one continuous membrane, with drains, flashings and penetrations detailed so water always has a path off the roof.
Asphalt shingles and metal roofing on the Sunshine Coast
Most Coast homes are pitched, and we roof those too. Asphalt shingles are still the most common covering here, and they perform well when the ventilation is right and moss is kept off — expect 20 to 25 years in this climate rather than the 30 quoted in drier places. Metal lasts longer, sheds needles and rain instead of holding them, and is worth serious consideration on exposed and wildfire-interface properties, provided the coating system and fasteners are specified for salt air. Do you charge more because of the ferry?
No. We quote Sunshine Coast work at the same square-foot rates as the Lower Mainland. Planning the job as a block is what stops the travel turning into a premium — the crew comes over once and finishes the roof.
My house has a pitched roof with one flat section. Will you do just that part?
Yes — that is a large part of what we do on the Coast. Decks over living space, garage and carport roofs, entries and additions all need a membrane system rather than shingles, and they are where a great deal of interior water damage begins.
How long does a torch-on roof last on the Sunshine Coast?
25 to 30 years, provided the drains are kept clear and moss is not allowed to establish. Clearing the drains and scuppers each September, before the winter rain arrives, is the single cheapest thing an owner can do for a flat roof here.
